Some more again

I have been so busy these days and so missed out on reading some awesome blogs and writing more too!  So happy to be able to browse through my favorite sites again.  Among the many things that has kept me busy, is a little more of my DIY projects! 

Over the past couple of days with my studies and work exhausting me, I took a break and decided to go creative again. I did two projects inspired from decoration ideas from various interior decorating sites. 

The first one is what my sweetheart called cheesy (Men!) Gold blasted alphabets of our Names. I got wooden carved alphabets N and S and painted it in gold to match my black mantle. It needs some retouch but I still like the overall look.

The Second project was to make yet another new lamp, I had a small old lamp in the storeroom and drew inspiration from a variety of sources! I did youtube some videos on how to make the rosettes.

Spice it up a little

So there was this website I visited which made me totally go crazy about all the beautiful work she has done!

Having a penchant for all things beautiful, I so wanted to try it out myself and she had perfect instructions for a beginner. So this weekend, I began my DIY Lampshade Project. I had a plain plastic lampshade which was really boring, and often thought of tossing it and buying a whole new lampshade. So I chose to experiment on that particular lampshade.  It was easy provided you don’t get overwhelmed with small hiccups.

I chose a blue and brown medium heavy fabric and a Peel ‘n’ stick fabric fuse (from Amazon) and then got to work. I got some help from my partner to do all the cutting!

And less than an hour later, here is the final product!

I am super happy about the outcome! I think it is looking awesome and it cost me an old lamp and USD 17!
