The Lady

Though jewelry making began as an “accidental love,” it grew into a unique and compelling “passion” according to Amrita.  Her design interests are global, reflecting the city that she inhabits and works in: urban, culturally diverse, and infused with artistic inspiration. Studying the intricacies of Indian art through travel and extensive independent work, Amrita draws upon the designs of India and the Mughal dynasty to create artisanal Indian Jewelry and accessories.
She has worked with world-renowned designers such as Oscar de la Renta and Christian Lacroix in the pursuit of fashion.

Elf Cosmetics: Worth a try ?

I had a discount coupon to use at ELF and tried quiet a few products from the Studio and Mineral line.

I’ve purchased an assortment of different items from e.l.f. since the launch, and have found the quality to be very mixed. The Essentials line is their original $1 items.  The Studio line is of generally better quality, and the Minerals line is, well, mineral makeup!

The things that I loved:

1. The Kabuki Face Brush:

It is soft and really fluffy, and feels lovely and is only $ 6

2. The Brush Shampoo for only $ 3

3. Eyebrow Lifter and Filler for only $ 3.

This eyebrow is a stick with a highlighter on one end and a filler on another. (the cap has a sharpener) I like this product a lot, the lifter blends well and works very well ! The Filler is good too, but you have to be careful with application.

4. Shine Eraser blotting paper $1

What I really Hated:

1. The Mineral Eyeshadow

The eyeshadow is not so well pigmented and really hard to blend in !

2. The Eye Shadow brush

This was my biggest disappointment ! The eye shadow brush does not help in blending and is so difficult to use !

3. Lipsticks from Studio Line

These lipsticks make my lips look cakey ! It creased it my lips even after applying some lip balm before the lipstick!

Verdict:

My feelings on e.l.f. is that most of the products aren’t worth even the low price point. There are a few great products in the brand, mainly sold under the Studio line, but with so many duds, it’s hard to recommend e.l.f. except for a few specific products.   Unless someone has given a very specific recommendation for something in the e.l.f. line, I’d suggest saving your cash and looking elsewhere.

Any body with similar experiences?

Work Out Hairstyles You can rock !

You want a workout hairstyle that stays put and is fast to do, so here are some ideas !

1. This is obvious the High Pony with a band.

Grab your hair and bring it towards the crown with as little fly aways, use a clip free scrunchie and tie it up, smooth any frizz or flyaways with some spray! you are ready to go!

2. Ballerina Bun

Pull hair into a high, tight pony, then twist to create a bun. Leave out a piece of hair underneath to wrap the outside; pin it in place. Next, smooth flyaways with hairspray.

3.Deep Part look

Divide your hair into a deep part to one side ( you can chose to twist it or create braids after dividing it into a deep side), grab the hair at the nape of your neck and secure with a scrunchie. Next braid or twist it to a bun and secure with bobby pins.

5.   French Braids

A french braid is a great workout style since it keeps all layers of your hair pulled back from your face, and won’t get in the way of any cycling helmets or swimming caps.

6. Headband Braid

The trendy headband braid is the perfect way to keep any sweaty bangs or shorter layers away from your face, which makes an ideal hairstyle for intense cardio sessions and sweaty circuits.

7. Pony Tail Braid

Here’s another incredibly versatile hairstyle: a low ponytail braid can help tame long hair during a workout better than a ponytail — no hair whips in the face!

What is my skin tone

Knowing your Skin tone is so important when you decide your make up! Once you know the tone it is easier to choose shades or palettes that suit that tone best.

And it is not always easy to know it, so here are some tips to find your tone.

The skin tone is either – warm tone, cool tone or neutral tone. Here are three (3) ways to determine skin tones:

1. Gently clean the face with a Cleanser.Do not moisturize or use toner at this time.

Wait for some time and then look into a mirror, preferably a large one, where there is direct lighting (not florescent lighting). Hold a piece of silver foil or and a piece of gold foil. The right color metal (foil) will bring a healthy glow to your skin. Or you can just wear gold and silver jewelry alternatively and observe which makes your face glow !

2. Hold a piece of white paper to your face, looking into the mirror. Your face must be clean and free of all foundation. Follow the above cleansing procedure. Does white clothes look better on you than off white ? Then you have a cool tone ! If you rock off whites then you have a warm tone.

3. Another great way is to turn your arm over and look at the veins on your forearm and wrist. If the veins appear more green than you have yellow undertones. This means your skin tone is warm. If the veins appear more blue then you have blue undertones. This means your skin tone is cool.

You have neutral tone if you feel both gold and silver suit you well ! Both white and off white suit you well! or you dont really see the color of the veins threw your hands.

If you have a neutral tone, then check the skin tone behind your ears (without any self tanning), match your foundation to that tone and you are ready to go !

Body shop Haul: The Must Have’s and the forget them’s.

 The Must haves :

This has to start with my favorite of all times, Born Lippy in Strawberry. It is an amazing moisturizing lip balm with a slight pink hue ! It is so good for the winter too, one application at night leaves my lips real soft and ready for matte lipstick. The small tub goes a long way too.

Ginger Shampoo: I never used to buy shampoo from Body Shop until I used one from my friend’s house, the shampoo had a very clarifying effect and felt very clean on my scalp. The smell was yumm too. So for those of you with itchy or flaky scalp a super safe to use scalp clarifying shampoo is here!

Vitamin C Microdermabrasion : Totally worth it, it is smooth (a lot smoother than St.Ives) and does give you an instant glow. Very mild so if you are aiming for some serious peels (normal skin) then this may not be what you need. But for a weekly dermabrasion this is good ! The price is what makes me use St.Ives more frequently, so for a pick me up before some event, this is good to have by your side.

Moringa Shower Gel : Really wakes me up in the morning !

High Shine Lip gloss: Great pigment and smooth.

The Forget them’s:

The Vitamin C Serum: I used to use Ole Henriksen Vitamin C Serum, and when I ran out of it was looking for a replacement. I thought this could be one, but no ways ! It is does not soak into my skin and brighten it or help with the appearance of any lines. As a serum it’s not worth it, maybe a perfect make up base !

Moroccan Oil Body Scrub: Have had way better scrubs for the price. It is smooth but a little to watery consistency. I would not re purchase.

Divine Calm Bath Powder: I love the smell and it is truly divine smell, the problem is that as a bath powder it scores really low. I can not use it as a bath soak economically as you need really a lot to make it work, but adding it on a loofah with your shower gel works like magic. Keeping it only because the smell is so so good.

How to get that Perfect red lips

Red Lips are always a fool-proof way to get glam ! Here are some ideas to fool-proof your Red Lips.

1. It is not all the Same Red !

Rule of thumb to choose your red:

Warm Tones looks better on orangey reds! Like the MAC Chilli.

Cool Tones should use Bluish Reds like the MAC Ruby Woo.

2. Prep Your Lips

Make sure your lips are well scrubbed and moisturized before you put bold shades. Also priming your lips with a little foundation will help with those little lines.

3. The Technique

Use a Liner or even Better a Lip stain like Jose Maran Lip stain to get a perfect border.

For a perfect Matt look using a lip brush is the way to go

4. Finishing touches

Use a clear gloss for an almost matt look or a dewy lip look. Or make it even better with some lip gloss with red hues.

5. Make it better

Add some gold lipstick/gloss/glitter on the center on your lips to add more oopmh.

Use a clear glitter glue and add some red glitter all over the lips.

Lip Scrub, Body Shop Born Lippy, YSL Lip Stick, Mac Sheer Lipgloss, Pauls Lipgloss, Nars Gold Lipstick, YSL golden Lip Gloss, Pop Lipstain.

What I Loved in The Golden Globes !

Tilda Swinton, I love her dress  by Haider Ackermann. It was different from the usual and sleek and no one could pull it off like her !

Emma Looks stunning in her Lanvin designer gown.

Charlize Theron looks to die for in this Dior Gown

Salma Hayek looks so gorgeous in this Gucci, love the shimmering almost Egyptian design on the top!

Best Hairstyle

Best Accessories

I want that dress !

I love this dress worn by Jenna Dewan ! The dress is so amazing and she wears it beautifully. Some say it was way off for the Red Carpet but I simply loved the dress. The Teal color, the accessories, the Sheerness and the twisted belt within.

Most Disappointing

Freida Pinto looks drag in this dress, which looks nothing like a Prada.

When I wanted to Celebrate, OOTD

I just celebrated my First Anniversary and it was amazing ! It was fun and I felt great, and I thought to share my Outfit for the day with everyone too :)

Cream Sequin Jacket by ECI, Tube Black Dress from H&M, Wide Belt from Accessories, Necklace from ideeli.com

The Outfit is broken down into 3. And accessories were a minimum, but I could not resist to add the Kenneth Jane double necklace!

1. A cream sequins  asymmetrical Jacket

2. The LBD

3. A wide belt to cinch the waist and stockings.

Eye wear: The Urban Decay Naked palette, L'Oreal Gel eyeliner, Lips: Revlon Pink Sugar, Estee Lauder Gloss.

Make Up mainly consists of drama on the eyes and subtle pink blush and lipstick.

I think this can be replicated for any semi-formal occasions. Or simple break up and use it separately !

Let me know what you think of the outfit !
