Healthy Hair Series

So, as promised here is some information on how we can help grow our tresses. Today, we talk about Supplements and other boosters.

Supplements:

1. Biotin:

I know this for sure because my friend used to have biotin supplements and swears she saw faster hair growth (without breakage). It still took time but the hair stopped breaking and was more healthy. So I have jumped into the bandwagon of having Biotin for Hair

2. Vitamin B6:

This is also supposed to be nourishing and helps growing hair. But if you are already taking Biotin it is best to not mix too many vitamins.

Chose one that suits your body and stick to it.

Some extra TLC

1. Pequi Oil:

You surely want to use them if you love your color and want to grow your hair. This exotic fruit from brazil as an ingredient in oils restores hair and loads it with Vitamins, proteins, and minerals leaving it frizz free and color protected.

2. Moroccan Oil:

I use this now on the ends of my hair to keep it protected from heat and the climate! My main purpose to use this to keep my hair tangle free so when I brush it does not break, any extra nourishment is a perk!

3. Minioxdil ( Rogaine):

Reviews galore for minoxidil for hair growth! this is awesome if you are suffering from hair thinning, downside addictive! when you stop using the hair stops growing.

Next up, Hair Killers.

Did any body try the castor oil? or any other tricks from my previous hair post?Any difference in hair texture?

Tricks that Rapunzel must have used

Okay so now I am obsessed with wearing my hair longer, much longer than I have ever before. And as you can imagine it is so frustrating. I had to battle so many things before finally figuring out the do’s and dont’s. So I am going to share all the things I am now doing for beautiful hair series.

So first things first: Diet.

Follow this list, and  your hair will thank you for it.

1.  A healthy mix of nuts

Walnuts, Almonds, pumpkin seeds and a handful of flax seeds (these are loaded with Omega 3).

2. Fish:

Salmon and Tuna, load up with salmon every week.

3. Go Popeye:

Spinach, add them to your salads it contains Iron, Calcium and Vitamins A,C

4. Red Cabbage:

Contains lots of Vitamins and has an added flavor (than the green cabbage)

5. Yogurt

So if you can incorporate three or more of these every week in your diet, you are on your way to helping yourself to gorgeous hair. Seems doable and besides none of these are going to ruin your diet or wallet!

I have already mentioned in a previous post, amazing hair mask, check them out here.

Next, we will talk about some supplements and DIY you could try! Stay tuned for my next post in my healthy hair series!

Lorac: Behind the scene

I love the products from Lorac, and one kit from that I adore and recommend is the Close up Smokey eye tutorial. I love this so much and totally wish you would try it too.

The pack is totally worth every penny you pay for.  At USD 36, you get a whole lot of full-sized products to glam up your eyes.

So here is a peak at what all you get.

Source: Sephora

1. Behind the scenes eye primer: Awesome and does its job.

2. Front of the line pro eye liner: Its okay but not my favorite, though I know many who swear by it.

3. Starry eyed baked eyeshadow Trio: Awesome, the black is good and well pigmented! Perfect texture.

4. Lorac special effects Mascara: It gives me great length, not so much volume but the length more than makes up for it.

5. Double sided make up brush: Use it to smudge only!

6. and an awesome tutorial!

This kit is a must and my favorite pick. Compare to kits from Stilla or covergirl and this kit offers much much more.

Bring the bling to your feet

I love fun ways to make things pretty, but it has to have a personal touch of myself in it. And doing that in a fashionable way is seriously so much fun. So today, I am going to talk about my trubates deal that allows me to splurge on spicing up my shoes from Mixxi.

The trend has been there for a while, and I absolutely love that you can mix and match and create a whole new shoe! And with a deal I wont need to spend too much on it also. While it seems so good and fun, the downside is that it is so easy to go totally overboard and look clownish. Some of the fabulous ways to jazz up plain shoes are by adding bows, rhinestone, chains, flowers etc. The key is to not mix too many elements in one shoe or accessory.

Here is a look at some of the ways you could work it in day-to-day lives.

On Sandals and stilettos

On Boots

Some of the websites to find nice shoe accessories are:

1. Mixxi, It has a sale going on now and ships free to anywhere in USA.

2. Shoeworthy, the rhinestone collection is good.

3. Multichic.

4. Absolute Audrey, they have awesome stuffs but is pricey!

5. Booty Bling, only boot belts!

I think a little bow, puff or a macroon would look so good on plain shoes!

But as I said keep it simple and before buying knowing which shoe you are going to use it on is a good idea!

The Magic of Castor Oil

To me, castor oil has been a magic oil. I remember discovering that applying castor oil for my hair helped in hair growth. And that was enough for me to Christine it Magic oil. I have very thin hair and anything that significantly contributes to its betterment is a boon.

Source: ipeter.blog.com

Here are some ways castor oil can be best used:

1. For Hair:

Massage into the scalp and hair tips, wash it off after a while or even overnight if you can beat the stickiness. Personally, I use it on my scalp and use olive oil for the rest of my hair.

How it works?

It restores the health of your scalp (cleanses and nourishes it) and so promotes fresh hair growth.

2. For eyebrows and eyelashes:

After a bad eyebrow threading session, the tail end of my eyebrow was gone and it made me look so bad! I promise applying castor oil for around two weeks showed results.

I used to apply castor oil in my eyelash too and I saw tiny lashes grow but it was not so dense or did not last long! It works as long as you use it in a fairly regular manner. To me it was a little cumbersome as castor oil is a little thick.

3. For Skin Cleansing:

Use an oil to cleanse your skin? sounds like a nightmare, but not really I hear! cleansing your skin with a small cotton ball dipped in castor oil can kill any bacteria on your face. Keep it clean and sanitized so research shows actually reduce acne. The best way to do this is by gently rubbing the cotton ball dipped in castor oil all over your face, next wipe it off with a hot wash cloth and finally wash off with your normal cleanser. This additional step of using the oil will leave your face feeling baby soft!

PS: If you have very dry skin you could mix it with a little olive oil for best results.

Be careful to use only Hexane Free castor oil which is of food grade.

I had stopped using castor oil for a while now, forgot the basics! I am planning to grow out my shoulder length hair, so I just got a brand new bottle of castor oil today and am all set to start over again.  I seriously want to see how much it helps my hair and skin. So I am taking a 12 week challenge and will review my honest views on whether or not the castor oil worked for me this time!

Let me know if you have tried castor oil?  Any other comments to aid hair growth?

If you try this after reading about it here be sure to tell me if it worked!

The Seven Link Challenge

I was nominated by Frillyfabulous to take the seven link challenge and I was so elated and happy to be thought off! Thank you.Though I have been blogging only from August and am 16 posts old only, I am going to still take a short recap to all the things that made me happy.

My most beautiful Post:  Wear your Animal on your sleeve. This one is simple because it was my very first post and I love the feeling I felt after hitting the publish button and looking at my very own blog so gratifying!

My most popular post:  This one sure got me noticed, my third post on Scarves that get you noticed.  Scarves have always been such a beautiful accessory to jazz up any boring outfit, especially when in a rush. I am in love with turbaning it from the time I realized it was the coolest to save my head from the blazing sun.

Turban Up

My most controversial post: When we take lingerie from ladies to girls, it has got to be controversial. My post on the Jaure Apres lines new line of “loungerie for girls caught the eye many who totally disapprove it.

Most Helpful post:  Who does not want hair that shines of health and goodness, so in this post Say hello to gorgeous hair. I spoke about all the ways we could care for our manes at home with things from our kitchen.

A post that was surprisingly a success: It would be my post on my DIY work,  Spice it up a little.  This was my first project which was really simple and easy but so close to my heart.

Final Revamped Lamp shade

The post that did not get the attention it deserved would be a post on Bold Ethnicity. This post was about young designer Masaba and her designs which is colorful, fashionable and fun. I personally like her collection and so wished you guys would notice it too.

And I would like to invite some of the fabulous blogs I read daily to take the seven link challenge.

1. January Sublime

2. Respected Life

3. Phoebe’s fab mix

4.Fishy face designs

5. Massie Block Love

6. MRS M

Spice it up a little

So there was this website I visited which made me totally go crazy about all the beautiful work she has done!

Having a penchant for all things beautiful, I so wanted to try it out myself and she had perfect instructions for a beginner. So this weekend, I began my DIY Lampshade Project. I had a plain plastic lampshade which was really boring, and often thought of tossing it and buying a whole new lampshade. So I chose to experiment on that particular lampshade.  It was easy provided you don’t get overwhelmed with small hiccups.

I chose a blue and brown medium heavy fabric and a Peel ‘n’ stick fabric fuse (from Amazon) and then got to work. I got some help from my partner to do all the cutting!

The Material and the Lamp Shade Used

Then came a lot of cutting and sticking.

Work In Progress

And less than an hour later, here is the final product!

Final Revamped Lamp shade

I am super happy about the outcome! I think it is looking awesome and it cost me an old lamp and USD 17!

Like it? Comments let me know!
